Programme Structure
At Vision Synregies we organize all kind of elective placements in Zanzibar. Our primary placement hospital is Mnazi Mmoja Referral Hospital. However students are also given opportunities to work in the rural hospitals as outreach programme in order to gain more experience of the primary and secondary healthcare service delivery. Our outreach programmes are organised in collaboration with Zanzibar Outreach Programme (ZOP). In Unguja Island, ZOP has a regular programme with their mobile clinic where different villages are visited. In Pemba Island, ZOP organises camp at Wete, Chake Chake and Abdalla Mzee (Mkoani) Hospitals.
Our elective placement programme covers a wide variety of departments offering opportunities for medics, nurses, midwives, dentists, psychiatrists, acupancturists and physiotherapists. Our task is to assist you in designing a placement of your interest, take away all the hassle of organizing it and make sure you feel 100% prepared and supported throughout. While in Zanzibar we will make all efforts to ensure a doctor with the Zanzibar experience will assist you in your daily works. Our staff are also grateful to receive any enquiry from you.
Application and Processing
To apply, please download and fill the application form and return to us via email: info@visionsynergies.com together with your CV, recent passport size photo and a reference letter. A reference letter must be in a letter head of your affiliated institution, signed by your supervisor and addressed to Medical Superintendent, Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, Zanzibar. Once we receive the documents, we will contact the hospital administration and file an official request in order to secure the place for you.

When the place is secured we will contact you confirming a place and an invoice will be sent to state your bill. You will then need to organize your trip to Zanzibar including arrangements for visa, travel and health insurance.
Upon arrival, a driver will meet you at airport/sea port and he will pick you to the destined houses. You can also choose to fly through Dar es salaam and enjoy a fast ferry trip to Zanzibar. In this case, please inform us about your connection arrangement. In some cases we can also help to organise a flight from Dar es salaam to Zanzibar. However, you will be responsible for all your travel expenses.
Your home in Zanzibar
Our houses are safe and secure and are fully furnished. You do not need to think of electricity, water and cable TV bills or of cooking utensils. If you enjoy cooking you just do it, and if you enjoy outdoors you can select from a set of local (safe and clean but cheap) or tourists restaurants located in the Stone town. Stone town is your home in Zanzibar, you must be proud that one day you stayed in this historical city, which many are dying for it! During evenings it is time to walk and enjoy the town and more important never miss a day to visit Forodhani Gardens. Our houses are few minutes walking to the main Mnazi Mmoja Hospital.
How much does it costs
The costs of organising the elective programme is based on the following calculations. Hospital fee (USD 75 per week), Accommodation (USD 15 per day), Airport transfers (USD 30 pickup and drop off) plus application and organisation fee, which is USD 150 for 1-3 weeks programme, USD 250 for 4-5 weeks programme, USD 325 for 6-8 weeks programme, and USD 400 for a programme exceeding 8 weeks. Payment procedures
The application and organisation fee, airport transfers fee, hospital fee and USD 100 deposit for accomodation need to be paid within 30 days of receiving your admission letter. During the weekends
During weekdays you have a chance to explore the Zanzibar Stone town, but during weekends you can do more; crystal white sandy beaches and vast Blue Ocean, spice tours, dolphin tours, historical site and many more. You must know Zanzibar is a paradise, and thus you must enjoy it. Several Tour Operators have offices in Stone Town and you may choose one of them to organise your tour.
